Dick Sutphen and Upper Astral - Soulmates (1985)

This tape has one of the same instrumentals from the "Finding your soulmate" tape I uploaded a while back, and this tape also has a meditation/soulmate finding program by Dick Sutphen on it- This includes some music by Upper Astral not heard on the other Soulmate tape.

Upper Astral - Higher Self Rendezvous (1983)

It's actually the same as the music played in the Soulmates tape, but in case there are any slight differences  in quality or anything I am uploading it here too.

Steven Cooper - Key West Afternoon (Digital Remaster from Master Tape)

Donated kindly by Mr. Cooper himself, here is the great Key West Afternoon tape in pristine quality. A great release, and the quality is improved very much from the lo-fi tape rip that was posted up in the past.

Sourced from the Master Tapes, digitally remastered by Steven Cooper.

Robert Slap - Search For Utopia (1988)

Hey everyone, here it is. For a long time now, ever since I saw the cover art of this tape, I knew it was going to be amazing. And I guess I was right, because I'm really enjoying this release. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. My cat, Ricky, loves it as well, it calmed him down and he's sitting on me as I type, something he rarely ever does (He's a crazy cat type thing.) Anyway, here you go.

Enjoy the new age epic, Search for Utopia.

Steven Cooper - Angels Of The Sun (1988, Digital remaster from the Master Tapes)

Generously donated by Steven Cooper himself, here is a pristine copy of Angels Of The Sun, the only Steven Cooper album I did not yet have. It's another gem, too. Absolutely wonderful to listen to and it puts you into a serene trance.

A Few Words from STEVEN COOPER!

Hey. I have some cool stuff to share today. Steven Cooper had came across this blog and had shared some interesting things with me, so I figured I'd share it here with everyone else to hear what one of the great New Age artists has to say about their music. Steven has also donated 2 digital remasters from the original master tapes of Key West Afternoon and the only Cooper album from Valley Of The Sun we don't have yet: Angels Of The Sun!

"Hello,
I accidently came across your site on the internet.
Thanks for all of the nice comments.
I have several of the releases you do not have...including some of the other artists.
All of my music is on CD - but has not been re-released.
I did most of the music for the "hypnosis tapes" released in 1985-1987.
I also did music for another company - Jonathan Parker's Gateways institute.
These were all "self-help" releases - on cassette - in 1988-89. There were many.
I also have an unreleased project that was going to come out on the Synergy Label, Audion in 1990.
They went belly up - and so did it.......I re-mastered all of these releases several years ago - and the CD's sound great. I also have a release from "Valley of the Sun" so that I can release the music on my own.
I haven't had the time to do so, so they have languished in the vault so to speak.
The label was the brainchild of Richard and Scott Sutphen. Scott recruited me, and TRANSCENDENCE was the result. That was almost thirty years ago - hard to believe. I was one of their first artists - and remained with them until the label closed.
I may have copies of some of the other releases you don't have - I worked with Robert Slapp some, and he sent me label releases in advance.
At the time, I really wanted all of my releases out on CD. They were all originally mastered to SONY PCM - the original DAT. The quality has always been great, and they sound much better
in digital. I had a high quality studio for the time, and made efforts to make the recordings as good as anything out there. BUT at the time, CD releases required "big" budgets - $15k per/release - and were beyond what the label wanted to spend.
The unreleased project was titled "Planet Earth" - and was a sonic history of the earth. It was pretty cool - and I developed all sorts of sounds for it - from atoms to volcanos to earthquakes to
insects and dinosaurs. It was the project Audion was interested in - and I never offered it to Vallery of the Sun. The friends I have shared it with always liked it - and it was perhaps the best thing I did.....I guess that is the story of life - the best efforts end up unheard."

Robert Slap - Atlantis: Healing Temple (1990)

I finally got my hands on an unfortunately 192kbps copy of Robert Slap's "Atlantis Healing Temple" from 1990, re-released on CD in 1991. The quality is listenable but if anyone has a 320 rip, that would be much preferred.  This album is great, though I think I like Atlantis Crystal Chamber a little more.

David Naegele - Dawning Of The New Age (1983)

Another great album by David Naegele.  Note that this one sounds VERY similar to Side B of the "Aquamarine" Tape. This means that it was not Robert Slap who did that album, but it was David Naegele instead.

Special Thanks to Tim from Adelaide for being so generous to send me the MP3s to this great album!

Dick Sutphen & Upper Astral- Emergence Into The Light (1984)

Today, I have another guided meditation tape, accompanied with music from Upper astral, music which I believe are tracks from "Finding Your Soul Mate" and "Journey To The Edge Of The Universe".

Speaking of Finding Your Soul Mate, David Storrs informed me that the "Finding Your Soulmate" tape I have up here is actually one in a series of tapes, which means there is more out there!

Celestial Odysseys- Galactic Odyssey (1981))

Celestial Odysseys is essentially Upper Astral (David Storrs and David Naegele) under another name. This was released in 1981, A really nice release if I do say so myself. A little more progressive than the other works, but this release is relaxing nonetheless. Enjoy!

Interludes- Ocean Waves (Soothing Sounds of Nature and Music) Gruskin/Vinnie Della-Rocca, GAA 1991)

Another great Interludes album, this time featuring synthesizers by an unknown artist (most likely composer Steve Gruskin) as well as beautiful flute by Vinnie Della-Rocca. More great sounds of the ocean.

(I own the CD but I currently do not have the pictures on the computer I'm using, so I'm posting up the cassette cover, CD art is in the rar file)

Michael Fraioli/Steve Gruskin- Interludes: Thunder & Rain (1991)

Another great edition in the "Interludes" series released by the Great American Audio Corp, Cello and synths played, accompanied by rain and thunder, I  enjoy this one a lot since I love the sound of rain.

Bray Ghiglia - Lunar Goddess: Music To Mellow Your Mind (1994)

Another album here, this time it's an all-flute album by Bray Ghiglia (Related to Suzanne Ghiglia(?)) from 1994. It is various types of flutes being played, although there is no nature sounds or anything in the background, it's only flute. It is played beautifully.

Released on CD in 1991 by Great American Audio, Produced and Composed by Steven Gruskin, Cello performance by Michael Fraioli. More from the "Interludes" series to come, I bought a few more a few days ago.

Great American Audio Corp PHOTOS

Hey, I have some cool stuff to post today. From what I've researched, GAA had 2 buildings, one on 71 Arch Street in Greenwich, Connecticut, one on 33 Portman Road in New Rochelle, New York. Both of them are now defunct. Here are some pictures of the Great American Audio Corp building as it is today in Connecticut.

REMASTER- Upper Astral- Finding Your Soul Mate (198?)

The files from this elusive tape were sent to me in only subpar quality, so I felt I should take charge to increase the listening experience. I recommend listening to it with headphones on for a better feel of the music. Hope you enjoy the remaster I did...

Tape Remasters & A Message from David Naegele

Hey. I'm just letting you all know that I have been working to remove hiss and add some extra reverb and quality to some of the tape rips I have up here, and I will be posting some up soon.

Also, David Storrs and I have been in contact since mid February. He introduced David Naegele (Who is his neighbor) to my blog and Naegele had this comment to make:

Hi Serveaux... My name is David Naegele and I was introduced to your blog by David Storrs.
FYI> I worked at VOS Publishing from fall of 1980 until 1991 and I was the in-house music producer from 1980 through spring of 1983 when Robert Slap took over those duties. I'm primarily a classical pianist, so my 1st production was a collection of mellow piano pieces called 'Classical Meditations' (AM104)in November 1980.
In 1981, I produced both 'Upper Astral Suite'(AM105) and 'Manifestations'(AM106) followed by 2 more titles under my name: 'Pentatonic Suite'(AM107) and 'Reveries' (AM108).
In the winter of 1982, I got together with my friend and neighbor David Storrs and collaborated on the Upper Astral title 'Crystal Cave(Back To Atlantis)'(AM109) and another title under my name called 'Dreams of Atlantis' (AM110).
In October of 1982, David Storrs and I collaborated on 2 Upper Astral titles: 'Skybirds' (AM111) and 'Entrance to the Secret Lagoon' (AM113); and a title under my name called 'Temple In The Forest' (AM112).
Around February of 1983, David Storrs (who is an all-around talented musician, composer and producer) went on a tremendous creative binge and produced 6 titles in the span of about a week, including: 'Dawning of the New Age' (AM114), 'Journeys Out of Body' (AM115) and 'Dreamscapes' (AM116) under my name (even though I didn't contribute more than equipment, concepts and ad copy); and then 'Celestial Odysseys' (AM117) under the name of Galactic Odyssey; and then 2 more Upper Astral titles called 'Higher-Self Rendezvous' (AM118) and 'Journey to the Edge of the Universe' (AM119). After that, I turned over my duties to Robert Slap at VOS and the only other Upper Astral title after he took over production duties was called 'Astral Massage' (AM140).
When it came time to transfer all the early cassette titles to the new CD technology in 1987, only one title had master tapes in good enough quality for digital transfer to CD and that was my 'Temple In The Forest' title. Of course VOS went on with many other titles from David Storrs, Robert Slap, Robin Miller, Karl Schaffner, Robert Martin and others. I have not had any personal contact with VOS since I left in 1991, but I must admit those were some of the best years of life. I'm happy that some of that old music has survived all these years. -- David Naegele

Will post some info and trivia shared by Storrs once I get his approval.

Robert Martin - Divine Light (1986)

Brought to you by the great people (or person, singular) at Sounds Of The Dawn (click here to check them out), We're in for another treat. This is Robert Martin, who released Great Peace in 1981. Robert Martin is one of the few new age artists who does not use any electronics who I like very much (Although electronic piano is in this release.) Normally, I don't like new age music that does not include synthesizers and keyboards. This does not apply to Martin's music. When someone who likes electronic new age exclusively enjoys these releases, you know it must be great.

Upper Astral- Manifestation (1981)

Another long-awaited Upper Astral Release, one from 1981.Sounds a bit different from their other releases, but it is still extremely relaxing and amazing. This now means that this blog has every known Upper Astral Release besides Higher-Self Rendezvous. I hope that Upper Astral has other tapes which have not been listed online yet, so we have more of this beautiful music to hear.
